to the Prisoners Kids
The up surge of offenders who commit crimes in Uganda
is seriously rising and increasingly affecting the children of the
offenders. Altogether there are 26,126 prisoners people in Uganda’s
Prisons as at 30.6.2006 ,out of these 19,116 are in central government
prisons and 7,010 in local government prisons (national prison administration)
Statistics show that Female prisoners constitute 3.4% of prison
population, while Men constitute 96.6% .The Prison population rate
(per 100,000 of national population) is 95 ,based on an estimated
national population of27.6 million at mid-2005 (from United Nations
figures) .
For every person in prison, there is an average of 5 children that
are affected and left vulnerable to all ill in society such as HIV/AIDS,
prostitution, street children, rape, sexually abuse and manipulation,
school drop outs.
That is why Wells of Hope comes in to link you with a child of a
prisoner in Uganda whom you can help. With a support of $20 per
month you can bring a total change in the life of your adopted African
child.
For
as little as $20.00 a month, you can dramatically change a child’s
life and become a partner with Wells of Hope Ministries . Your monthly
gift will provide tuition, lunch, a uniform and pair of shoes per
year, and medical assistance when needed.
There
are also opportunities to sponsor college students at a cost of
only $50.00 per month.
And
with $100.00 per month you will go along way to partner with Wells
of Hope Ministries to sponsor a University student.
A sponsor receives
three letters a year from his/her sponsored child to include a report
card. Our partners are welcome to visit with his or her sponsored
child in Uganda.Also our partners receive a photo graph of his/her
sponsored child every year.
Gifts outside sponsorship
money may include Christmas gifts and birthday gifts. And sponsored
children write a thank you letter for every gift received.
