We were glad to have 16 participants attend the prison volunteers training held at the Wells of Hope secretariat, on 28th January 2017. The participants expressed commitment in reaching out to inmates with the gospel, by filling in profile forms which entailed their bio data.
The training was commenced with praise and worship session which was led by Joan Ninsiima (Wells of Hope Accountant) and Emmanuel Caesar (Wells of Hope volunteer with Projects Department).
During Devotion, Sunday Kafeero (a Wells of Hope volunteer with the Projects Department) shared Isaiah 45:2-5, and he encouraged the participants to be committed to the ministry. He encouraged them by saying that in order to spread the word of God, they have to do their roles zealously, and that only God can draw someone to Him through Christ.
Ellen Eva Ssuubi (Wells of Hope Executive Director) gave the opening remarks. She thanked all the participants for showing interest in serving with Wells of Hope by attending the training, and then gave a brief background about Wells of Hope. She encouraged the participants to first work on their relationship with God before reaching out to others with the gospel.
We were delighted to listen to some of the volunteers who started serving last year, share amazing testimonies about the ministry. Patrick Nagaya testified that his faith in God had greatly increased a lot. With a wide smile, Leonard Nkuubi said, “I no longer consider the inmates as people without value; they are now my brothers in Christ.”
James Semakula (one of the volunteers who joined in 2016) shared that the number of inmates who give their lives to Christ, is increasing and he thanked Wells of Hope for helping in the expansion of God’s Kingdom.
Marjorie Lunkuse (Wells of Hope Deputy Executive Director) had an interactive session with the participants where she facilitated about prison rules regarding Prison Ministry. Some of the things they shared during this session included: involving the inmates in every session conducted, being humble, always conduct oneself as a child of God, among others.
We thank all the participants for attending the training.
