Before ministering to inmates, volunteers are ministered to and trained. On Saturday 27th February 2016, we conducted the Prison Volunteers training at the Head office premises. The training was aimed at establishing true discipleship training and a foundation grounded in the word of God. It was also aimed at helping volunteers understand the need for Prison Ministry and the procedures taken while conducting prison ministry.
The training was commenced by praise and worship session which was led by Emmanuel Caesar. Mrs. Ssuubi Ellen Eva gave the opening remarks; she gave a brief history about Wells of Hope. She encouraged volunteers to always have compassion for prisoners and reach out to them through the word of God; she quoted Isaiah 61:1 "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners," and Mathew 25:36 "I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me."
