Prisoners in upper prison, Uganda’s Maximum security prison put aside their sorrows and danced to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord last Saturday 29th March 2008. This came as result of our visit during which we had two reknowned local gospel artists Martin Seku and Betty Namaganda singing their best for the prisoners. Wells of Hope partnered with power Fm, a local Christian Radio station and Kampala Pentecostal church (KPC) who donated a bull,300kgs of rice,103 crates of Soda,500 boxes of Soap, six balls, a huge assortment of toothpaste and bathing soap. This prison of 2500 inmates was filled with a lot of excitement, the atmosphere was fully charged and it dispelled the thoughts that we were in a prison. This is The first time ever this kind of event was taking in a prison here, because they allowed journalists with cameras from five media houses.
Pastor Chris Komagum of KPC did the preaching and also we distributed gospel tracts donated by Rev.James Robinnete of Action Uganda .Wells of hope did the coordination to guide the rest of the team of over 18 people into the prison at the same time-this is also a rare happening in this prison.
Thank you for all your prayers, this outreach was very successful. We thank all people who contributed.
