Focus on the ultimate. |
 |

There are times when I think of a possibility of reaching heaven
and being shown a detailed video recording of the entire happening
in my life.
One of the things dread seeing in that video (possibly called, The
Acts according to Ssuubi) are the times when I wasted time, dwelling
on the insignificant, trivial, temporary, and some silly issues
and arguments of life. The times I did not pray, time wasted in
worrying and time spent playing games with the devil.
Possibly this may not happen because of the grace of God and the
finished work on Calvary which I have recognized , accepted in my
life and simply wait for the day of His return to take me home..
But I think I have responsibility
to focus on what God is instructing me to do everyday as I listen
to the enabling power of the Holy Spirit.
We read of patriarch Joseph in the bible, who was tempted by potiphar’s
wife to commit the acts of fornication and adultery. In today’s
world where people talk of freedom to do anything and in this fallen
world where sex is seemingly a leisure and sport, one would be bound
to say that Joseph, a servant in His master’s house had earned
himself a golden opportunity (to sleep with his master’s wife!),
but this was not the kind of Man Joseph was to focus on the immediate
and sacrifice for the ultimate!
“…. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin
against God?” Genesis 39;9
The ultimate focus in Joseph’s life was God and God’s
will for his life, which he could not risk to sacrifice for the
immediate urge to fulfill his libido.
People who focus on the ultimate and not the immediate, do not major
in the minors. They dwell on things that help them heavenwards as
the look at their master Jesus Christ..
