“When He left in the morning for work, I was so sure he would return as normally as it had always been, but that day He never returned, we hoped he would return the next day but he did not, days turned into months and months into years.” That is how Sarah 28 years a mother of 4 children recounts, the disappearance of the father of her first and second born. She goes on to say ,”Exactly 10 years later, one of my relatives called me and told me that the father of my first two children had been found and that he was in prison, a week later He sent instructions to me to contact an organization called Wells of Hope, which was to help with the children’s education.
When I visited him, he told me that he had been arrested along with others whom they suspected to have been involved in a robbery which led to the death of two people, and he has since been in prison, with no hope of being released since he is on death row.
Sarah says that It was very difficult for her to maintain the home after the disappearance of her husband, so she decided to remarry and bore two other children, she says that her new husband accepted her with the two children whom she got from her earlier marriage, he even gave new names to the children and accepted them as his own, but after three years he died as a result of intestinal obstruction.

For my first two children Sharon and Henry, all along they knew that their father was the one who died, its two years ago that they got to know that their real father was alive but in prison, and with the help Wells of Hope ,they have been able to visit him five times.By the time their father was imprisoned they were still toddlers.
She says “I thank God for Wells of Hope for educating my two children Sharon 13 and Henry 12,however, I need support to help these other two children because their father died. I wish Wells of Hope could also take them on also. My brothers helped me to own a KIOSK but recently thieves broke into the Kiosk I was operating, and stole my merchandize and all the capital,I have tried doing casual jobs but they are not forthcoming,so I am now looking for capital to begin afresh.”
Imprisonment can cause many problems for the dependants left behind, including difficulty organizing childcare, loss of family income, trouble maintaining contact with the imprisoned person, stigma at home, school and in the neighborhood. Wells of Hope is helping to mitigate such problems caused by imprisonment.
