There was a deafening sound of joy and jubilation as the Judge ruled
that Sam should be acquitted. In disbelief Sam fainted in the dock
where he was, he had survived the hangman! Sam says that Being on
death row for seven years is not something easy, even when you make
an appeal like he did, you cannot really be certain of the future,
its only God the redeemer who can dedicate one’s future according
to Sam. This is because there are people in there who are so rich
but on death row, but even their money cannot save them. Even when
you are innocent its not a sure deal that you can be acquitted.
One day while visiting the condemn section in Luzira
prison; a man welcomed us by saying, “Welcome to the grave
where there are men who are dead but can talk.” So you can
tell the kind of place Sam has been living in., even the stench
of death is heavy in there!.
Events unfolded for him when he was mistaken to have been involved
in a highway robbery and murder, the actual killers took off and
he was destined to pay for their sins.
Thank God justice prevailed and he was let go home and be with his
family, he has been home for a month now.
Sam is one of the beneficiaries of our programme,
we have been and will continue to contribute towards the school
fees for his three children .Beginning a new life may not be easy
for him; he needs a lot of help to start again. We pray the Lord
helps him.
Every day I am learning not to take my freedom for
granted, I wake up and fall on my knees and thank God for the opportunity
he has given me to see the blue sky as a free man and most importantly
because God himself has set me free.
There is greater joy if one is released and set free from eternal
damnation that faces people who will not be among the saints as
they march to glory.
Sam is a changed man, converted and born again, to
him this is important. This helps us to understand that it is much
more important to be set free in God’s court than in an earthly
court. |
